An Update (and some sarcasm)..

After spending close to three days in the hospital, Lukey was finally released and allowed to come home. He was diagnosed as having Rota virus (which I think is interesting, given the fact that he is the only one of my kids to have been vaccinated against it) and dehydration.

Last Thursday we made another trip to the E.R. (where they still haven't installed a Fearnside express lane. What's up with that?!), this time for breathing difficulties. Despite being given the maximum amount of Albuterol at home, he was still coughing, choking and struggling to breathe. So we spent 7 fun-filled hours sitting in an over-crowded L.A. emergency room (way to balance the budget Califronia law makers! Hospital closures are always a great way to cut corners!) where he was treated for bronchial-something and allowed to come home. He still has a cough and some wheezing which seems to be managed with oral steroids and nebulizer treatments.

Tomorrow he has a follow-up appointment with the Gasteroenterologist to review some of the tests that were done in the hospital. Then Wednesday Luke will go in for a sweat-chloride test at a children's hospital in Long Beach to determine whether or not he has Cystic Fibrosis.

Keith and I have suspected for a long time that there is something going on with Lukey. We are relieved to finally be heading towards some answers (God willing), but scared at some of the potential diagnoses.

Ultimately, we know God is Sovereign and that he loves Lukey much more than we do. We also know that there is no better place for Lucas to be than in the care of our Heavenly Father. God has truly sustained us and we know that He will continue to do so.

Thanks for praying for Lukey and our family! I will post when we know more.

Lucas

I realize that this is not the best topic for reigniting my barely-existent blog, but I deeply covet prayer for my middle baby, Lucas.

To make a long story short, he is currently in the hospital "under observation."

Lukey came down with the flu on the first. We thought he was getting better, but ended up in the E.R. Sunday for severe stomach pain. On Tuesday, I took him back to his pediatrician to be re-evaluated. After examining him, the doctor ordered me to take him back to the E.R. so that he could be admitted to the hospital. We spent 6 fun-filled hours hanging out in the hallway of an over-flowing hospital and were finally given a room.

They've run a battery of tests on him including a CT Scan (with barium inserted orally, intravenously, and rectally. FUN!), blood work, an EKG and still don't seem to know what's wrong.

Please pray for healing for his poor little body. He has been sick fairly often since birth and is still underweight for his age. Pray that the doctors would be given wisdom, knowledge and discernment in making his diagnosis. His pediatrician has been a real blessing and is very vigilant.

Hopefully, I'll have time to update tomorrow. Keith has graciously taken over night duty tonight so that I can get some rest. What an awesome husband!

Sorry for the ramble, I haven't really slept much in the last week.

Thank you so much for your prayers!

Happy (belated) Birthday Audrey Laura Grace!!!

Audrey Laura Grace
September 26, 2007
7 pounds 2 0unces
21 1/2 inches

My precious baby girl, I can hardly believe that you are ONE! What a unexpected blessing you have been to us! I prayed fervently for a sweet, fat baby and God has given me above and beyond my requests (minus, the fat part). I was not expecting to be blessed with a daughter so soon after having two boys, but God had other plans. ;)

You are a joy and delight to your entire family. We love your sweet and feisty spirit, your ready smile and your engaging personality. I pray that you will grow to know and love God with all of your heart, soul and mind. And it is our sincere prayer that God will continue to bless you with such a sweet and happy nature (even in jr. high) and the ability to be content and joyful regardless of your circumstances (which will most certainly be trying with two big brothers).

We love you and are so grateful that His plans and timing supersede ours (and modern medicine's).

May you always rest contentedly and joyfully in him Big Pretty Girl!

Mommy, Daddy, Kyle and Lukey.

I am already nominating myself for worst blogger ever. Hopefully, I'll be able to maintain this blog to keep everyone updated on our family's happenings. But, if you know me, you know how I am with projects..
Until I can upload some more pictures and videos, and until I have something more interesting to say, here is a beautiful Autumn picture to brighten your day.
Further posts may or may not be coming soon..
